Why Bike Sharing?
Of course, bike sharing lets more people enjoy cycling every day. But public bikes are also an integral part of bigger changes:

Livable Communities: Public investment in bike sharing sends a powerful message that our streets are built to move people—pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders, and drivers—not to move just cars. Bike sharing makes more people feel comfortable walking and cycling in the city, which is great for neighborhoods, great for business and great for creating a sense of living in a progressive city.

Multi-Modal Transportation: Bike sharing creates a new option for short trips in the city, enhancing our transit system by expanding the reach of transit stops. It’s suddenly easier to simply “get around.”

Active Living: One of the most effective ways to improve health and lose weight is to incorporate short periods of physical activity into every day. Even if it’s just a 10-minute bike trip.

Preserving the Environment: Naturally, perhaps the best thing you can do for the planet (and your car’s engine) is to replace some of those 1-3 mile car trips with a bike trip.
