Public bike sharing would not be possible in Minneapolis without the generous support of our sponsors. Nice Ride Minnesota thanks Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota (Blue Cross) for its title sponsorship! The sponsorship is funded entirely by settlement proceeds from Blue Cross’ historic lawsuit against the tobacco companies. A part of Blue Cross’ prevention efforts, Nice Ride Minnesota is one way Blue Cross is working to tackle obesity and other costly diseases by addressing their root causes — one of which is physical inactivity.

Bike Walk Twin Cities (a program of Transit For Livable Communities) has allocated $1.75 million in federal funding to Nice Ride Minnesota. Bike Walk Twin Cities provides funding to innovative bicycling and walking projects located in Minneapolis and its neighboring communities. Bike Walk Twin Cities was established in 2005 as part of the six-year federal transportation bill.

The City of Minneapolis was a founding partner in the Twin Cities Bike Share Project and will contribute $350,000 in start-up funding.
